BONNIE RUTH MCCOY-COLYER was born on October 3, 1926, in Damascus, Georgia, to the late Wallace and Lillie Mae McCoy. She was the second of their children and was blessed with a life filled with love, service, family, friendship, and countless cherished memories.

After graduating from high school in 1943, Bonnie pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school. She later became the proud owner and operator of Colyer’s Beauty Salon in Orlando, Florida. For more than thirty years, Bonnie faithfully devoted herself to making others feel beautiful and cared for. Her salon became more than a place of business—it was a place where friendships were formed, laughter was shared, and memories were made. Bonnie also worked at Kane Furniture, where she remained employed until her well-deserved retirement.

In 1972, Bonnie joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Church, where she became an active and dedicated member. Her commitment to the church and her years of faithful service earned her the special distinction of being known as a “Silver Angel.” She participated in numerous church programs and could always be counted on to serve whenever she was needed.

In August 2024, Bonnie relocated to Albany, Georgia. Her return to Southwest Georgia brought her back to her roots and allowed her to reconnect with Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Damascus, Georgia. There, she continued her faithful service until her earthly journey came to an end on August 20, 2026.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Lillie Mae McCoy; siblings, Ada McCoy, Georgie McCoy, Inez Stubbs, and Oliver McCoy; and caregiver, Debra Brinkley.

Bonnie’s sweet spirit, kind heart, and unforgettable personality touched everyone, fortunate enough to know her. She had a personality like no other and was often the life of the party. Her laughter, wisdom, humor, and unique way of making people smile created memories that will be treasured for generations. The stories of Bonnie’s life will continue to be shared, bringing laughter and warmth to the hearts of those who loved her.

Bonnie leaves to cherish her precious memory two nieces who she helped raise from an early age as her own, Dorothy Williams and Lois Davis; sister, Edna (L.B.) Ingram; and devoted caregivers, Tammie Nunnally (niece) and Janis “Red” Bogan (Goddaughter). She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.

She also leaves behind two cherished missionary partners and dear friends, Lois Davis and Darlene Blakley-McPherson, along with a host of other relatives, friends, church family, and loved ones whose lives were blessed by her presence. Though Bonnie has completed her earthly journey, her legacy of love, faith, service, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.

She was truly one of a kind—the Real McCoy!!

Rest peacefully, Bonnie. Your work here is done, but your love and memories will live forever.
