Obituary

RICHARD ALBERT HENDERSON was born on March 26, 1952, to the late Johnny and Elizabeth Henderson. On August 14, 2026, at the age of 74, Richard completed his earthly journey, leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Richard was educated at Washington High School, where he graduated in 1970. He went on to build a strong work history and distinguished himself professionally as the first Black supervisor at Moore Business Forms, an accomplishment that reflected his determination, work ethic, and ability to lead. He also faithfully supported the family businesses, JR’s Loving Care Services and Henderson’s Lawn Care.

Richard was a member of Gaines Avenue Church of Christ. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved animals, riding horses, gardening, and working in the yard. He was also a die-hard Boston Celtics fan. Whether he was riding a horse, tending to his yard and garden, spending time with animals, or cheering on his Celtics, Richard enjoyed doing the things that brought him happiness.

At the heart of Richard’s life was his family. He shared 53 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Jeanette Henderson, who faithfully loved and cared for him throughout the years. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, perseverance, family, and enduring love. Richard was a proud father to his son, Richard Larron Henderson, and a loving father-in-law to Monica Henderson. He was blessed to be a grandfather to Richard Javon “Jay” Henderson, Kelsea Wallace, and Kameron Wallace. His son Richard stood faithfully by his father, supporting him and being present throughout his journey—a reflection of the special bond and love shared between father and son.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Elizabeth Henderson; siblings, Johnny Henderson, Jr. and Shirley Henderson; Sisters-in-laws, Martha Henderson, Betty Henderson, Jeanette Henderson, and Annette Bush and brother-in -law Robert Bush.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Jeanette Henderson; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Larron and Monica Henderson; grandchildren, Richard Javon “Jay” Henderson, Kelsea Wallace, and Kameron Wallace; brothers, Robert Henderson, Calvin Henderson (Margaret), and Larry Henderson; add mother-in-law, Blanche Wimberly; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie Pete Wimberly (Zelina), Larry Haynes (Nina Haynes), Lovell Wimberly, Mildred Wright, John Wimberly, and Charles Wimberly (Brenda); aunt, Bertha Hollinger Wiley of Orlando Florida; special caregiver, Chaniqua Swint; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family, and friends.
