Obituary

Mother Sandra Wright –Roberts was born in Albany, Georgia on April 22, 1957, to the late Adolph Wright, Sr. and Ethel Mae Thrower. She was the second of thirteen children and shared a very special bond with her only sister, Patricia.

She received her early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School. A lifelong learner who believed resolutely in higher education, she continued her studies at Troy University with a major in Accounting.

Sandra's journey with the Lord began very early in life at New Zion Hill Baptist Church. Blessed with a gifted and loving spirit, she served the Lord with her whole heart and never wavered in her commitment to service. In later years, she united with New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership and watchful eye of Pastor Solomon Loud, Jr. It was there that her love for God was strengthened and her spiritual gifts were nurtured. Mother Roberts dearly loved the Lord and fervently availed herself in service. You could not know her without being inspired by her unfaltering devotion to her church and her strong faith and convictions.

On July 18, 1985, Sandra was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ozell Roberts. Together, they created a home filled with strong values, unconditional love, and unyielding support. As a wife and mother, she offered much time and attention to the needs of her family. Whether needing advice, a listening ear, or casual conversation, she was always available to hear them out. Family was paramount in Sandra's life. After the death of her beloved sister, Patricia, she made a lifetime commitment to nurture and care for the four children who were left behind. Randy, Latasha, Jimmy, and Kortney were given the utmost attention and care along with her two daughters Michelle and Sherri. Yes, Sandra was the personification of Proverbs 31 woman, "A wife of noble character...Her children rose up and called her blessed."

Known for her resilience, fortitude, and unparalleled work ethic, Sandra was an exceptionally persistent and conscientious employee with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. She had a natural gift for serving others; always gave her best—not matter what the task; and retired after rendering outstanding and dedicated service.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who was the rock and foundation for so many people. She had a way of looking into your soul and knowing just what you would need to make you grow. Having the privilege of being loved by her was to know you would be loved for a lifetime. She will long be remembered for her kindness, and dedication to everyone who crossed her path.

On February 24, 2026, Mother Roberts answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Summer Grace Lassiter; four siblings, Nathaniel Wright, Anthony Wright, Patricia Wright, and Steven Wright; and her aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Brown, Agnus Blue, Mary Austin, Roxella Thornton, Adella Young, Mattie Thrower, Viola Thrower, Susie Thrower, Willie C. Thrower, Clarence Thrower, and Neg Thrower.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her beloved husband, Ozell Roberts; her daughters, Michelle Wright and Sherri Roberts; bonus children, Ozellious (Monica) Roberts, Raphael Roberts, and Kenisha Baker; brothers, Adolph Wright, Calvin (Deborah) Wright, Michael Wright, Derrick (Diane) Wright, Pernell Wright, Ronald (Angie) Wright, Donald Wright, and Roderick Wright; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends
