Tammie Thomas was born in Albany, Georgia, on September 18, 1963. She was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Jones and Juanita J. Hayes. She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System. She was a proud graduate of Monroe High School, Class of 1981.
Very early in life, Tammie was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity and loving kindness. In her childhood years, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and began her season of Christian Stewardship at First Kiokee Missionary Baptist Church in Terrell County, GA and finished her assignment at Sanctuary of Grace in Albany, GA. under the leadership of Pastor Tepedric Hill.
Tammie was employed by the Dougherty County School System as a bus driver. Through her work, she became a familiar face to many children, parents, and families throughout the community.
She took pride in her work and in the responsibility entrusted to her each day.
Tammie was well-known and loved by many. She will be fondly remembered for her warm and pleasant spirit. One of her most memorable qualities was her beautiful smile. She was always smiling, and her joyful laughter had a way of bringing happiness to those around her. Her friendly nature and familiar presence allowed her to form lasting connections with many people throughout the years.
